Program Site JCAHPO AND ATPO:

Courses for ophthalmic medical personnel will be held at the Hilton San Francisco Hotel, 333 O’Farrell Street, San Francisco, CA 94108. To reach us while in San Francisco, contact the hotel at (415) 771-1400 and ask for the JCAHPO registration desk.


American Academy of Ophthalmology:

The exhibit hall and courses for the physicians will be located at the Moscone Center, 747 Howard Street.


Accommodations

Hotel reservations must be made through the AAO Housing Bureau. Housing opens on June 24th to Academy members and on July 8th to non-members (ophthalmic medical personnel).

Airport Transfers:

Airport Shuttle: Shuttle service is available through several companies on a walk-up basis. Passengers arriving after 11:00 p.m. are advised to make reservations. Shuttle service is available from the roadway center island at all terminals, and will cost approximately $17.00 one way per person for direct travel to the Hilton San Francisco Hotel.


Taxicabs: Taxi rates may vary. For transfer from San Francisco International Airport to the Hilton San Francisco, expect to pay between $40.00 - $50.00 one way, airport surplus and additional taxes included. Taxis depart from the designated taxi zones located at the roadway center islands on the Arrivals/Baggage Claim Level of all terminals. Uniformed taxi coordinators are stationed at the taxi zones from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. to assist passengers with questions or concerns.


Subway/Rail/Bus: Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) operates rapid rail service to northern San Mateo County, San Francisco, and the East Bay directly from San Francisco International Airport (SFO). The SFO BART Station is located on the Departures/Ticketing Level of the International Terminal (Boarding Area G side). Driving Directions

From San Francisco International Airport (SFO): Take Highway 101 north and exit at 7th Street. Turn right on Folsom Street, then left on 5th Street. Cross Market Street and turn left on Ellis Street to Mason Street. The garage entrance to the Hilton San Francisco is on Ellis Street between Mason and Taylor Streets.


From Metropolitan Oakland International (OAK): Take Highway 880 (West, then North) towards San Francisco. Follow signs to San Francisco and cross the Bay Bridge. Exit after bridge on 5th Street, which becomes Cyril Magnin. Turn left on Ellis and follow to Mason Street. The garage entrance is on Ellis Street between Mason and Taylor Streets.


From San Jose International Airport (SJC): Take Highway 101 North and exit at 7th Street. Turn right onto Folsom, then left onto 5th Street. Turn left onto Ellis Street and follow to Mason Street. The garage entrance is on Ellis Street between Mason and Taylor Streets.


Hotel Parking

Current daily self-parking charge is $52.01. Valet parking is $56.63. Prices are subject to change.


AAO Shuttle Service

Shuttle bus service will be provided for meeting attendees between most of the official AAO meeting hotels and the Moscone Center during meeting hours from Saturday, October 24, through Tuesday, October 27. There will be limited service on Friday, October 23! If you plan to use the AAO shuttle service, please allow PLENTY of time for travel – the shuttle buses stop at many hotels, as well as the Moscone Center.


JCAHPO Course Tracks

JCAHPO has identified several tracks during this year’s program. Course tracks offered are Coding, Basic Ophthalmic Assisting, Surgical Assisting, Basic Contact Lens, and Imaging. Check the Day-at-a-Glance pages for more detailed information. Course tracks are coded on the JCAHPO Day-at-a-Glance.


Sub-Specialty Sessions

The 2009 ACE Program will feature Sub-Specialty Sessions on: Glaucoma, Practice Management, Retina TechTraxSM, and Surgical Assisting. These exclusive ACE sessions provide OMP with an opportunity to take part in a series of courses devoted to a relevant or popular eye care issue. Attendees receive a thorough review of a select topic and its manifestation in different areas of care that they are likely to encounter.


Admission to Courses

Tickets will be required for all courses. Registrants must pick up their tickets at the JCAHPO/ATPO Registration Desk in the Franciscan Ballroom on the Ballroom Level prior to attending courses. Watch for onsite registration hours and guidelines.


Financial Interest

A number of instructors have a financial interest in the subject matter of their presentation. These courses are identified in the course schedule and in the course descriptions. Instructors are requested to disclose financial interest when they begin and conclude their presentations.


Handouts

Registrants may download handouts beginning in August until one month after the program through “My Account” on JCAHPO’s Web site, provided you have received a registration confirmation. You will need a login and password. Follow the “Meetings” link to the ACE Program and click “View functions and handouts.” You will find a link to every course handout, if we received one from the instructor. If a handout is missing, check back just prior to the program – we will continue posting handouts as we receive them.


JCAHPO and ATPO will not provide handouts onsite. You may visit the hotel’s business center to download handouts, but be advised that hotels typically charge a fee for internet access. Handouts for courses purchased onsite can only be downloaded AFTER the program.
