About CoA-OMP
CoA-OMP is sponsored by the following collaborating organizations:

For consideration of accreditation matters, directors of CoA-OMP express independent judgments and do not serve as instructed representatives of their sponsors.
CoA-OMP grants accreditation to three types of educational programs in the allied health profession of ophthalmic medical assisting:
- assistant and clinical assistant programs developed for entry level
- technician programs developed for the intermediate level
- medical technologist programs developed for the advanced level
Assistant programs include only a didactic (lecture and laboratory) component, whereas the clinical assistant, technician, and medical technologist level programs include didactic and supervised clinical components.
CoA-OMP is vested with the responsibility and authority to evaluate programs that have requested accreditation services. CoA-OMP's principal means of program evaluation consists of analyzing Self-Study Reports, sending representative teams to conduct site visits of programs, and deliberating at committee meetings.
